SKJAJA helps level the playing field so all kids can experience the joys and benefits of enrichment activities and unleash their full potential. Through a combination of funding for extracurricular activities, meaningful service-learning projects, community connection and leadership development opportunities, SKJAJA aims to close the opportunity gap for students grades K-12 in Chapel Hill-Carrboro, NC.
SKJAJA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving local K-12 students.
What We Do
SKJAJA empowers young people to grow into the best versions of themselves. We do this by removing cost barriers to extracurricular activities so that young people can explore their interests, discover their passions, and ignite their sparks.

We also provide opportunities for young people to connect with the world outside themselves through service. By engaging in individual and group service-learning projects, SKJAJA youth and students throughout Chapel Hill-Carrboro harness their world changing aspirations and build stronger communities.

Why Our Work is Important
SKJAJA is committed to ensuring that every student in Chapel Hill-Carrboro has access to meaningful out-of-school enrichment activities and transformational service opportunities. We believe that every child deserves to explore their passions and discover who they are outside the classroom and as citizens of the world.
As schools pivot and rebound from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, extracurricular activities and community connection are more essential than ever to the social, emotional and mental health of students in grades K-12. SKJAJA is committed to working with Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) to support our youth through this transition and beyond.

SKJAJA Youth
Whether it’s cello lessons or art classes, multi-day field trips or math tutoring, SKJAJA students have engaged in a wide variety of enrichment activities. And whether it’s packing food to combat food insecurity or tending a community garden, they’ve provided hundreds of hours of service to improve lives and build stronger communities.
