Musical instruments are always needed for our “Play it Forward” program. SKJAJA collects and donates instruments to students in school band or orchestra that can’t afford to purchase or rent one. Monetary donations can be used to repair donated instruments. Submit the Instrument Donation Form below and a SKJAJA volunteer will be in touch to arrange pick up. Email instruments@SKJAJAfund.org for additional information.
Instruments are collected from families who no longer need them
All school band and orchestra instruments are welcome like: flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, violins, or cellos
Instruments are cleaned and repaired (if needed)
Students are given an instrument to use at school or for private lessons
Recipients must agree to “pay it forward” in return
I have been teaching instrumental music since 1981 and over the years, I have witnessed how learning an instrument can transform a student’s life. Unfortunately, obtaining an instrument, especially a quality one, can be a very expensive endeavor. I have also seen how providing an instrument to a student can help them see themselves as a different kind of a learner and help them to feel on an equal level with students who have more resources than they do. – Ann Daaleman, orchestra teacher
