Please read before applying  SKJAJA is dedicated to serving students residing in Orange County, NC. As such, SKJAJA Fund applicants must be affiliated with one of the following programs or organizations:​

  • Free & Reduced Lunch Program

  • SNAP

  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)

  • TANF

  • Family Success Alliance (FSA)

  • Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate Program (BRMA)

  • Refugee Community Partnership (RCP)

  • Refugee Support Center (RSC)

  • TABLE

  • PORCH

What do we fund

What activities do we fund? Whatever inspires you!

What activities do we fund? SKJAJA encourages students to think about activities that are interesting and exciting to them, regardless of cost. One student might try soccer for a season, and then taekwondo, only to discover that they're more interested in drumming! Wherever a student’s heart leads them, SKJAJA aims to get them there.

Activities or items SKJAJA often funds:

  • School orchestra or band (through PLAY It Forward instrument program) 

  • Recreational sports (baseball, football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, field hockey, etc.),

  • Sports equipment and/or attire

  • Day and overnight school field trips

  • Dance/creative movement classes

  • Art classes 

  • Music and voice lessons

  • Babysitting training

  • Tutoring or test prep

  • Whatever inspires you!​

Summer activities SKJAJA has funded:

  • Overnight summer camps

  • Summer/holiday day camps

  • Sports camps – school and non-school

  • Swim lessons

  • UNC-Greensboro Summer Music Camp

  • Reading Skills camp

  • Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

Activities or items SKJAJA doesn’t fund

There are some activities or items SKJAJA does not fund:

  • Non-mandatory uniform requests (e.g: team warm ups)

  • Competitive sports teams (e.g.: AAU or travel teams)

  • Yearbook or prom fees

  • Testing fees (note: We DO fund tutoring and test prep)

  • College application fees

  • College admittance/acceptance days or orientation

  • Food

  • International field trips

  • Any activities involving firearms

SKJAJA also supports Groups and Organizations
