What is PLAY it Forward?

PLAY it Forward is a SKJAJA program established to ensure that every student in CHCCS with a desire to participate in school band and orchestra programs has the instrument they need to enroll. The program is managed by Ann Daaleman, a retired and beloved Phillips Middle School orchestra teacher.

How it works:

  • PLAY It Forward partners with middle school band and orchestra teachers at the beginning of each school year to ensure every student who needs an instrument has one.

  • Members of the community are invited to donate band and orchestra instruments they no longer need to PLAY it Forward.

  • Ann works with instrument repair professionals to clean and refurbish the instruments, ensuring every instrument is fit to play before it lands in a student's hands.

Monetary donations to SKJAJA Fund also help support this program.

What instruments do we collect?

PLAY it Forward welcomes all school-required band and orchestra instruments in good condition including:

  • Flutes

  • Clarinets

  • Trumpets

  • French horns

  • Oboes

  • Trombones

  • Violins

  • Violas

  • Cellos

SKJAJA will clean, repair or refurbish your instrument prior to donating to a local student.
