
Our Mission
SKJAJA Fund’s mission is to level the playing field so that all youth grades K-12 have access to extracurricular and service opportunities that ignite their spark, deepen their connections to community and strengthen their leadership skills.
Our History
Since 2008, SKJAJA has:

Provided over $150,000 in scholarships for over 1,000 students from historically marginalized communities in Chapel Hill-Carrboro for extracurricular and after-school enrichment activities.

Ignited the spark of over 1,000 students grades K-12 through access to enrichment programs and service-learning projects, contributing to student agency and to the closing of the opportunity gap.

Provided musical instruments to 100s of students for orchestra and band programs throughout Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.

Facilitated hundreds of hours of transformative service learning projects for SKJAJA students, partnering with numerous local organizations on shared service experiences in the community.

Collaborated with students, families, school teachers and administrators, businesses, organizations, volunteers and community leaders to build a stronger Chapel Hill-Carrboro.
